Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has compared Birmingham City to Real Madrid and Wrexham to the Harlem Globetrotters.

The Millers have made a mixed start to the League One campaign following relegation last season as they have gathered five points from their opening five matches.

They will look to push for League One promotion at the end of the current season and Evans feels that 12 to 14 games deep into the season will give them a measurement for the rest of their season.

Birmingham City have splashed big money in the summer and Wrexham are also moving rapidly as strong promotion rivals.

Evans compared Birmingham to Real Madrid due to their spending and Wrexham to the Harlem Globetrotters due to their celebrity factor.

“We’ve not played the Real Madrid of League One, we will play them Saturday week, and we’ve not played the Harlem Globetrotters who will turn up when Parky brings Wrexham, with the stars and the attention that comes from that with the ownership”, Evans told the BBC.

“In all seriousness, we’ll get a measurement after 12 to 14 games, it’s always the situation, whether you are League One or Championship, you get an idea because you’ve played a mix of teams.”

Evans will be looking to push his side towards their second victory of the season against Burton Albion this weekend.

They will host the biggest spenders of League One, Birmingham City, next Saturday at the New York Stadium.
