West Ham United are interested in appointing Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, according to The Guardian.

West Ham and the Portuguese are expected to part ways following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League.

The London Stadium club are identifying potential replacements to take over from Nuno, and O’Neil has emerged as a target.

Former Burnley manager Scott Parker is also being eyed as West Ham look for their fifth manager in two years.

O’Neil led Strasbourg to an eighth-place finish in the just-concluded Ligue 1 campaign, missing out on qualification for next term’s Europa Conference League qualifiers by just one point.

AS Monaco ended the season on 54 points, while Strasbourg finished with 53 points. O’Neil joined them in January, replacing Liam Rosenior who left for Chelsea, and he could be on his way back to England.

The West Ham managerial target was with Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to France, spending 16 months with them before his sacking in December 2024.

O’Neil also worked with AFC Bournemouth as a coach before becoming the first-team manager and he brings plenty of experience to the table.

However, whether a move to the Championship appeals to him, and Parker could be the best man for the job given his record in the second division.

The former Burnley boss has won promotion to the Premier League with three clubs – Fulham, Bournemouth and the Clarets – doing so in his first season in charge of each club.

However, Parker’s managerial struggles in the top-flight are well-documented and West Ham could have doubts over handing him a long-term contract.

They need to get key decisions right this summer if they are to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League, and fans would prefer new and ambitious owners in charge.
