Strasbourg ‘to target’ Caleb Yirenkyi

Bold reports that Strasbourg are pressing to sign Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi from Nordsjaelland as they seek to reinforce their defence.

The 20-year-old featured in four matches for Ghana at the World Cup. He is expected to leave Nordsjaelland this summer despite a contract running to June 2030.

A versatile defender, he can operate at right back, a role Racing are looking to bolster.

Last season Nordsjaelland finished third in the league. Yirenkyi started 34 times in all competitions.

Nordsjaelland have already turned down significant offers from Porto or Coventry. Their asking price is at least €25m excluding bonuses. Competition is strong and any favourable outcome for Strasbourg would probably pass through Chelsea, who share the same owner BlueCo.
