According to Football Insider, Sunderland and Everton are weighing up summer moves for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, with the Foxes ready to sell amid relegation fears.
Both clubs are expected to revisit previous interest, and the 22-year-old is said to be unwilling to drop into League One if Leicester go down. The report indicates he would push for a transfer in that scenario.
Fatawu is understood to have come close to joining Sunderland last summer before staying to try to help secure promotion. That decision has not been rewarded, with Leicester four points from safety near the foot of the Championship and only a handful of games left. Off-field financial pressure could also force sales if relegation is confirmed.
Despite the struggle, Fatawu has nine league goals and seven assists this season, underlining his status as one of the club’s most valuable assets. Across his loan and permanent spells with Leicester, he has 16 goals in 97 appearances.
It is claimed Leicester are resigned to losing the Ghana international and would sanction a deal below his previous valuation. His release clause is believed to be around £30 million, yet he could be available closer to £20 million this summer. It is also suggested former Everton boss David Moyes wants to strengthen his squad, while Sunderland continue building a young, high-upside attack under Régis Le Bris.
