Sunderland have recalled Tom Lavery and Trey Ogunsuyi from their season-long loans.
The club said in a statement on Tuesday that the pair had returned early from Falkirk and Cliftonville.
Ogunsuyi made nine appearances for the Scottish side, seven from the bench, without scoring. Lavery featured 19 times for Cliftonville in the first half of the campaign and scored two.
Both had impressed for Graeme Murty’s U21s and earned temporary senior moves during the summer window.
Speaking during pre-season, Lavery said playing for Sunderland in the Premier League would be a dream after joining the academy at nine. He added that he hoped to keep playing men’s football and push to the highest level, reflecting positively on a Portugal training camp where he played 45 minutes in both matches. The immediate next steps for both players have not been specified.
