Sunderland hint at Elvis-linked hummel kits after 2-1 win over Chelsea | OneFootball

Sunderland teased next season’s hummel kits with an Elvis hint after the 2-1 win over Chelsea sealed Europa League football for 2026/27.

On the scoreboard, the club crest and Elvis Presley’s trademark appeared in pink on black, hinting at a tie-up with the Presley estate. "We thank the club for backing us because they would have had other offers but they’ve stuck their neck out and gone for Hummel," said hummel’s UK CEO Neil Burke, speaking to the i paper.

Supporters later received an email titled "Elvis - Episode One" carrying the lines "some things are meant to be" and "Arriving this summer", a nod to Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love, now a club anthem.

Wise Men Say has soundtracked Sunderland’s climb to the Premier League’s top half, and it looks set to be marked through future kit ranges. The pink and black could nod to Presley’s early suit, shown in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic.

Sunderland and hummel have recently extended their partnership on improved commercial terms. "We felt the partnership could be big but it’s turned out even bigger than either side thought so our financials of what we’re offering have increased," Burke added.

hummel are expected to release two retro ranges based on kits from 1988 to 1994 next season. The three main kits and ranges are expected to land in June, July and August, with a strong presence expected on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.
