Sunderland are tracking multiple targets this summer, with movement around Lutsharel Geertruida and fresh links to Kerim Alajbegović, Mariano Troilo and ex-winger Jack Diamond.

Geertruida joined on loan from RB Leipzig in September 2025 and made 30 appearances, while Liverpool weighed a January move. According to Voetbal International, there is currently no contact with Liverpool after Arne Slot’s exit and Andoni Iraola’s arrival, which could aid Sunderland if they pursue a permanent deal.

Alajbegović, 18, impressed for Red Bull Salzburg in 2025-26 with 44 appearances, 13 goals and four assists, and caught the eye for Bosnia during their World Cup push. Bayer Leverkusen have re-signed him, though his long-term future remains uncertain.

Sunderland are credited with interest, but Roma are said to have contacted Leverkusen over a permanent move, with a bid around €30 million discussed. The player is thought to be open to Italy and Leverkusen have yet to respond, while Sunderland’s monitoring has not been ruled out.

Sunderland were linked with Troilo in May after contacting his entourage, but Fulham are understood to be preparing a €20 million offer, around £17.2 million. The centre-back made 23 appearances and scored the winner against AC Milan last season, and Parma are not under pressure to sell.

Diamond, 26, delivered 15 goal involvements for Stockport County in 2025-26 and is being watched by Portsmouth and Lincoln City. The academy graduate previously made senior appearances for Sunderland and is on the radar of clubs in the Championship and League One.
