Sunderland met The Red & White Army this week to address frustration with the club’s ticketing.

According to Sunderland Echo, interim CEO Tom Burwell and club staff acknowledged the need to improve the ticketing experience. While 96% renewed for 2026/27, a number reported serious problems and difficulties in resolving them.

Some long-standing season-ticket holders were refused moves back to general admission despite rising corporate hospitality prices, and told they would be placed at the back of a 15,000-strong waiting list if they did not renew corporate seats.

RAWA had urged a pause to renewals after widespread complaints from across the Stadium of Light, and voiced disappointment at not receiving a final response. Following this week’s meeting, cases will be reviewed individually and those affected will be contacted by 5pm on Tuesday 12 May to offer a solution. The club will continue working with supporter groups on improvements.

In March, 65 tickets for the Tyne-Wear derby were cancelled, with the incident described as an exceptional misuse of tickets. Some supporters were affected despite being blameless.
