Sunderland climbed into the top half of the Premier League with a crucial, deserved win over Spurs at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon. According to Sunderland Echo, these were the player ratings.

Luke O'Nien had a strong game, his slide on Muani led to a penalty that VAR rightly overturned midway through the first half. Assured in possession and timely in the challenge, he earned seven.

Goalkeeper Robin Roefs made two smart saves, notably denying Solanke from close range just before the interval. He dealt well with set pieces and was generally tidy with the ball, a seven.

After the break, Nordi Mukiele put Sunderland ahead when his shot took a huge deflection. His adventurous runs and willingness to shoot caused problems, and he defended superbly in the second half. Tireless and full of personality, he claimed eight.

Omar Alderete delivered another top display, dominant in his duels with Solanke and consistent in his use of the ball. The in-form centre back merited eight.

Regis Le Bris’s side created and missed some big chances yet restricted Spurs to little, a performance that underpinned the result.
