Football Insider reports that Sunderland are set to post record revenues following their Premier League return, with income on course to surpass the previous club high of £126m recorded in 2016-17.
The outlet says the 2024-25 accounts show revenue rising from £38.2m to £40.3m in the promotion-winning season, and that holding 11th could take prize and broadcast income beyond £130m.
Such an uplift would aid long-term sustainability and transfer scope as sporting director Florent Ghisolfi continues to develop the club’s recruitment model.
On the pitch, Sunderland beat Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’s Park, and Brian Brobbey’s late winner prompted a shirt-off, chest-beating celebration in front of the home end.
“Not for that. I trained hard, yeah, I trained very hard. I have been to the gym a lot. Naturally, I was very happy. It’s a derby.” He told ESPN.
Asked whether the celebration was aimed at Dutch media, he said: “No, that doesn’t have to have anything to do with the Netherlands at all. I was just very happy.”
