Sunderland are weighing a fresh move for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as the Foxes seek funds at season’s end. The winger has a £30m release clause in his current deal.
According to Football Insider, the Black Cats are ready to revive their pursuit during the close-season while Leicester look to cut costs.
The outlet adds Leicester plan significant wage-bill reductions, with Fatawu among players who could be sold and the club open to an agreement.
It is claimed he is viewed as ready for a Premier League return and could offer more than Sunderland’s current wide options. The same report suggests Romaine Mundle might be allowed to leave if Fatawu arrives.
This speculation comes alongside financial strain at Leicester, who posted a £71.1m loss for 2024-25 following relegation and a failed immediate return.
