Sunderland are on course to surpass their club-record revenue of £126m after returning to the Premier League, according to Football Insider.

The report adds their 2024-25 accounts show revenue rising from £38.2m to £40.3m during the promotion-winning season. Régis Le Bris’s side sit 11th after a dramatic 2-1 win at St James’s Park.

On the pitch, Brian Brobbey’s late winner triggered wild scenes, the striker ripped off his shirt in front of the Newcastle supporters then beat his chest, a clip that quickly went viral. The reaction drew notice in the Netherlands, where his fitness had previously been questioned at Ajax.

“Not for that. I trained hard, yeah, I trained very hard,” he said. “I have been to the gym a lot. Naturally, I was very happy. It’s a derby.” He told ESPN.

“No, that doesn’t have to have anything to do with the Netherlands at all. I was just very happy.”

Keeping that position could see prize and broadcast income exceed £130m, highlighting the scale of the uplift with top-flight survival. Such a jump would strengthen long-term sustainability and transfer firepower as Florent Ghisolfi refines the recruitment model.
