Regis Le Bris’s side return home after the international break buoyed by a 2-1 win at Newcastle United that sealed a league double. They have reached 43 points with seven games left and are chasing an unexpected European place rather than fighting relegation.

Manchester United lead the attendance table with an average of 73,962, more than 11,000 clear of second-placed West Ham on 62,454 at the London Stadium. Tottenham are averaging 60,939 despite only two Premier League home wins this season, and visit the Stadium of Light on Sunday, 12th April seeking a vital result in their bid for survival.

Sunderland sit above Aston Villa, Chelsea and Leeds United thanks to the Stadium of Light’s capacity, though it remains smaller than Newcastle United’s stadium and Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Wearside crowd has been a force, with the Black Cats losing only three of 15 home league matches.
