Chelsea have struggled in attack in recent weeks.
The Blues scored two against PSG in the away leg of their Champions League tie, and since then have played 3 in a row without finding the net.
It’s a major problem, especially for a team which can’t defend either. This season was carried by Joao Pedro at times, and now he’s back in a dry spell it’s proving impossible to replace his efforts.
What’s interesting is that the two players who have had plenty of criticism this season are up there in important categories. Liam Delap is having a disaster season in terms of scoring, but he’s top of the team for shots on target per 90. Meanwhile Alejandro Garnacho is top in terms of expected assists per 90.
The fact they’re mainly appearing as subs will help those numbers of cours – but maybe, just maybe, there’s hope for them. With Champions League football on the line, they both might get a chance for an important redemption moment before this season is out.
Cole Palmer did an international break interview and gave hilariously little away, in his typical style.
Moises Caicedo did the same interview, and he spoke about what had surprised him most since coming to Chelsea, with a really interesting answer.
