In an exclusive interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, full-back Daniel Svensson discussed joining Borussia Dortmund and his experience thus far.

The 23-year-old spoke about how other clubs were equally interested in his services including RB Leipzig, Benfica and Leeds United.

"It’s true that there was interest from other clubs. But when things became concrete with Borussia Dortmund, I just wanted to come here.

“It's a very big club, one of the biggest teams in Germany. When I was offered the chance to play here, I really wanted to do it,” Svensson explained.

Despite BVB’s troubles in the current season, the situation facing the club was anything but a deterrent.

"BVB is such a big and good club that that didn’t influence my decision. A club like Dortmund can always come back.

"Almost all teams have a season here and there where they don't do as well as they would like.

"But I know that we will come back and hopefully we can do that now after the win against Union Berlin,” the Swede added.

Despite impressive performances, Svensson will likely face some competition for the left-back slot now that Ramy Bensebaini is fit once again.
