Talks ongoing: Bayern in contact with Liverpool star’s camp over move | OneFootball

Bayern Munich are reportedly in contact with the management of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate over a possible summer move. 

The 26-year-old Liverpool defender has been a key member of Arne Slot’s squad and has started in all 10 Premier League games.

The Frenchman played a major role in helping the club win the Premier League trophy last season, but doubts remain over his long-term future.

Konate has a contract at Anfield until the end of the season, and as of now, he has not signed a new extension at the club.

The centre-back produced a terrific performance against Real Madrid in midweek, and the Reds are optimistic that he will pen a contract extension at the club.

It has been widely reported that Real Madrid want to sign Konate for free, but it appears that Bayern are also keeping a close eye on his situation.

The Bavarian giants are also facing a similar situation to Liverpool for defender Dayot Upamecano. The 27-year-old defender has a contract at the German club until the end of the season, and he has not signed a new deal.

According to Bild, Konate is an option for Bayern if Upamecano leaves the club. Konate knows the Bundesliga very well, and he will be an attractive signing for the club on a free transfer.

The report claims that Bayern have made contact with Konate’s camp.

Battle for potential free agents next summer

It has been suggested that Bayern are progressing in talks over a new deal for Upamecano amid interest from Madrid.

Even if Upamecano stays, Bayern are likely to sign another defender if they decide to sell Kim Min-jae next summer.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who Liverpool and Real Madrid also want, has emerged as an attractive target for the German champions.

Bayern also admire Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, and a potential move for him cannot be ruled out.
