PARKEN, COPENHAGEN (Bulinews): Edmond Tapsoba described Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen in their Champions League opener on Thursday as a point gained rather than two lost.

“We’re happy with the one point,” Tapsoba told Bulinews.com in the mixed zone after the game, which saw Die Werkself score a last-gasp equaliser.

Leverkusen were off to a nightmare start, going behind just nine minutes into the game. Elias Achouri kept a ball in play down the left and quickly squared it to Jordan Larsson, catching the Leverkusen defence off guard.

Tapsoba felt that conceding early made life unnecessarily difficult, giving Copenhagen the perfect opportunity to sit back and counter.

“To concede in the first minutes was not that clever,” he admitted.

“Everybody was sleeping. Everybody thought the ball would go out, so it surprised us.”

He added that the moment served as a lesson for the team.

“We have to be more focused in the next game,” he stressed.

Leverkusen now turn their attention to Sunday’s Bundesliga clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
