A teenager will replace Mo Salah at Liverpool, and that was confirmed on Saturday night.

Replacing Salah will represent one of the most difficult challenges Liverpool face this summer. His influence from the right wing has been so profound that the scale of the void he has left behind is almost impossible to overstate.

For years, Salah has been far more than Liverpool’s primary attacking outlet. He has functioned as the driving force of the forward line, the player the team instinctively turned to in decisive moments, and the consistent reference point around which their attack was built.

What truly set him apart from almost every other elite forward was his extraordinary reliability. While even the best attackers go through patches of inconsistency, Salah has maintained an elite level of output season after season since arriving at Anfield, producing goals and assists with remarkable regularity.

That dependability is precisely why his departure feels so seismic. Even in seasons where he may not have looked at his absolute peak, he still delivered defining contributions - moments that shifted games, secured points, and carried Liverpool through difficult spells.

Time and again, he has proven decisive when it matters most, whether by scoring crucial goals, creating something from nothing, or lifting the team during periods of pressure.

Equally important is the versatility he brings to his role.

Salah is not a traditional touchline winger relying solely on pace. He can drift inside onto his left foot, exploit half-spaces with intelligent movement, link play fluidly with teammates, and finish with the composure and efficiency of a top-tier centre forward.

In many respects, he functioned as a complete attacker rather than a traditional wide player.

That is what makes replacing him such a daunting challenge. Liverpool are not just losing goals, speed, or creativity. They are potentially losing one of the most complete, dependable, and influential attackers the Premier League has seen in the modern era.

How on earth do you replace a player of his quality? How do you find a right-winger in this market capable of stepping into the Egyptian's shoes?

It's tough out there and right now Yan Diomande seems like the only option. However, he has a pick between the Reds and Paris Saint Germain.

You cannot deny that the latter is just as enticing if not more enticing than Liverpool right now given the fact that they are now Champions League winners for two seasons in a row.

Diomande would be joining one of the best teams in the world playing under one of the best attacking coaches in the world.

But if not Diomande, then who can come in and be Liverpool's right-winger? Well that answer was confirmed on Saturday evenin during England's encounter with New Zealand.

His name is Rio Ngumoha. Yes, you might be surprised. He's already begun turning heads last season but not as a right-winger, instead as a left-winger.

Well he is on international duty with England, where he became the fifth-youngest player ever to debut for the senior national team at just 17 years old.

That milestone alone highlights the level of trust and excitement surrounding his potential, but this was not the most significant part of the night.

Ngumoha didn’t just make his debut against New Zealand on Saturday - he made an impression. In fact, his impact was strong enough for him to be named Man of the Match despite only featuring in the second half of the game.

And he did this while playing on the right, not the left.

For those watching closely, the award felt entirely justified. It was a standout cameo from the Liverpool youngster, full of confidence and intent.

He finished the match with the most successful dribbles on the pitch (three), consistently taking responsibility in one vs one situations and looking very comfortable on the right. Rather than playing cautiously, he repeatedly engaged defenders, gliding past challenges and expressing himself with a freedom that stood out at international level.

There was a raw, almost street-football energy to his performance - direct, fearless, and instinctive.

It was confirmation that Ngumoha is the Salah replacement for Liverpool. He is going to be a superstar and ultimately he can even fill the void on the right-wing for the Reds given the market is so poor in that position.
