Manchester United’s shortlist of midfield targets is expanding rapidly as the summer transfer window approaches, with the Red Devils expected to sign several midfielders as part of their squad overhaul.
On Monday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming that Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni features prominently on United’s wish list of candidates to replace Casemiro.
Now, a report from Italy suggests the Mancunians are in the picture for a Juventus midfield lynchpin.
According to TuttoSport, Teun Koopmeiners is facing an uncertain future at Juventus amid interest from Manchester United and Galatasaray.
Koopmeiners joined Juve from Atalanta in 2024 in a deal worth around €52 million (£45.2m). However, the Dutchman has struggled to make his mark in Turin despite playing in a number of positions under different managers.
The versatile 28-year-old has shown signs of promise as a centre-back under Luciano Spalletti. Koopmeiners is a technically gifted player who possesses exceptional athleticism.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via Express), former AZ boss Pascal Jansen claimed the six-foot-tall midfielder’s “pressing and chasing abilities when out of possession, I would almost say they are inhuman.”
However, Juventus are open to parting ways with Koopmeiners to manage their finances.
The Italian newspaper claims the Serie A giants plan to avoid a capital loss by sanctioning his exit for at least €30m (£26.1m).
It is understood that United are willing to take the risk and will compete with Galatasaray for Koopmeiners’ signature.
His agent, Bart Baving, was reportedly in Turin on Monday to clarify his client’s future.
The Premier League giants are also thought to be interested in Juventus’ highly rated winger Kenan Yildiz. However, Juventus are reluctant to open talks over his transfer this summer.
