From pure jubilation to utter despair, certain results can leave a lasting impact on fanbases up and down the EFL, which is why the game has become so popular globally.

For a multitude of reasons, some supporters are more pessimistic than others when it comes to their outlook on football. Whether it is because of past shortcomings or a lack of future hope, there are always those who a less enthusiastic about the beautiful game.

As a result, Football League World has employed AI chatbot, ChatGPT, to rank the 10 moodiest fanbases in the EFL Championship.

Kicking off the list is Norwich City fans, who AI believe have been made moody by their constant swing in recent times between the Premier League and Championship.

Whilst this creates big highs when things are going well, it also comes with some quite dramatic lows, which ChatGPT believes has spread among the Canaries’ fanbase.

Ipswich Town’s recent success is also cited as a reason for ill-feeling among the Carrow Road faithful, who have had to watch their arch-rivals bask in the type of glory they once enjoyed.

9 ? ? Derby County

Next up is Derby County, who are ranked as the ninth-most-moodiest fanbase in the Championship despite enjoying a strong upward trajectory in recent years.

Instead, the AI backs up its decision by highlighting how loyal and passionate the Rams’ faithful are. Travelling in large numbers to away games can take its toll on a supporter base according to the chatbot, especially when results don’t go Derby’s way.

8 ? ? Watford

Much like Norwich City, Watford’s trend over the past decade of enjoying promotions to the Premier League and relegation back down to the Championship has been emotionally expensive for supporters.

A fan psychology of constant hope and anxiety is named by ChatGPT as the main source behind the Vicarage Road faithful’s moodiness, with their recent extended stay in the second-tier not helping matters one iota.

In a similar fashion to Derby County, Birmingham City’s history of strong, passionate supporters comes back to bite them in this listing.

Over time, they have had to watch on as rivals Aston Villa have enjoyed increasingly higher levels of success, which has contributed to Blues’ moody environment according to the chatbot.

Because of the sizeable crowds the Second City side draws, emotions can turn very quickly in the AI’s eyes, which can lead to a very tense atmosphere at St. Andrew’s.

6 ? ? Southampton

Southampton’s fanbase have only recently become a moody bunch according to ChatGPT, due to their recent relegations from the Premier League.

Previously, the Saints’ faithful were quite content with the status they held in the top-flight, but that has now all change,d leading to a feeling of discontent at St. Mary’s.

Because of what supporters are used to experiencing, any slight hint of mediocre football is pounced upon these days as per the AI, heavily contributing to a moody environment.

Coventry City fans are described by the AI as completely opposite to Southampton, who could be on their way out of a moody period.

In the Sky Blues’ recent history, which has featured stadium drama and financial questioning, supporters have been sensitive to setbacks according to ChatGPT, which has created a moody atmosphere at the CBS Arena.

However, positive performances over the past few years have lifted that somewhat and a promotion to the Premier League could eradicate it entirely.

Hull City’s inability to look like serious promotion contenders in recent times has led to their fanbase developing a moody attitude towards the club, according to ChatGPT.

Managerial turnover and off-field upheaval mean that fans sometimes fear instability in the AI’s eyes, which translates to quick mood shifts, sometimes in quite a negative fashion.

3 ? ? Sheffield Wednesday

It isn’t hard to see why Sheffield Wednesday are so high up this list, with it potentially just a surprise that they aren’t in first place.

ChatGPT highlights owner Dejphon Chansiri’s financial woes as a reason for mass negativity throughout the Owls’ fanbase, which they can’t exactly be blamed for.

Coupled with that factor is Sheffield United's comparative success in recent times, which has seen the Blades enjoy multiple trips to the Premier League, which the chatbot states has also made matters worse at Hillsborough.

It is clear to see why Leicester City fans have been described as one of the Championship’s moodiest supporter bases by ChatGPT, due to their recent failure to stay in the Premier League.

Over the past decade, the Foxes have won the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield whilst playing Champions League and Europa League football.

The chatbot states that having to settle for the second-tier has led to a large amount of ill-feeling at the King Power Stadium, which is only natural when considering the peaks Leicester fans enjoyed not so long ago.

1 ? ? Millwall

Somewhat surprisingly, it is Millwall’s fans that top this list.

In quite a different reasoning from the other clubs, ChatGPT has highlighted the moody environment the Den can produce as the reason why the Lions are named to have the Championship’s moodiest supporters, which might not actually be a bad thing.

The AI states that this creates an intimidating environment for opposition teams to play in, which translates to success on the pitch for the East London outfit.

A history of violence, supporter culture and direct chanting are all listed by ChatGPT as reasons why Millwall are the EFL Championship’s moodiest club.
