FLW details the players who are set to miss out this midweek clash on the South Coast.
Two teams with contrasting form meet in midweek as Southampton prepare to host West Brom at St Mary’s Stadium this Tuesday evening.
The Saints, under boss Tonda Eckert, reveled in yet another second-tier victory as they comfortably dispatched Birmingham City 3-1 on the South Coast last weekend.
That means Southampton have now secured five wins out of their last six games under the German, transforming the team from mid-table mediocrity to being on the periphery of the top six and inserting themselves into the promotion conversation.
Southampton have also netted 18 goals over this period, with Eckert seemingly finding a system that is getting the best out of the attacking flair he has at his disposal.
Meanwhile, visitors West Brom will be fearful of Southampton’s upturn in form, with the Baggies showing far too much inconsistency under Ryan Mason.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur coach is finding life as a full-time manager tough as his Albion side are left in mid-table, with a run of six straight defeats on the road doing little to inspire confidence in the ranks.
Mason is still very much under pressure and not a popular figure among the Albion faithful, and that intensified after a poor showing at QPR last weekend when they suffered a worrying 3-1 defeat.
On paper, it looks difficult to look past a home win given the differing runs the two teams are on, but the Championship can throw up some surprises, so it will still be intriguing to see what develops on Tuesday evening.
As the countdown to kick-off continues, FLW lists the players who are likely to not play a part when the team sheets are announced.

The hosts have several injury concerns heading into this clash, starting with midfielder Shea Charles.
The Northern Ireland international has been absent since the end of October after picking up a hamstring injury, which at the time saw him ruled out for a timeframe of between six to seven weeks.
Prior to their victory over Birmingham City, Tonda Eckert confirmed Charles was preparing to return to first-team training, but is not in line for a recall to the matchday squad yet, so he is set to miss out in midweek.

Ross Stewart has had rotten luck on the injury front ever since signing for the Saints from Sunderland in the summer of 2023.
The £10m recruit is dealing with his latest setback, as a hamstring injury in October was set to keep him out for a substantial period of time.
Stewart is on the road to recovery, but won’t feature for the club until 2026 and is ruled out of this encounter.

Danish defender Elias Jelert was another injury casualty in October, suffering a quad issue in a goalless draw with Swansea City.
At the time, the Saints loanee was ruled out between four to six weeks, and Tonda Eckert has confirmed he remains absent for their game on Tuesday.

Samuel Edozie has also been on the treatment table since the end of October after pulling his hamstring against Blackburn Rovers.
At the time, then Saints boss Will Still revealed the winger wouldn’t be available until late December, but he has reportedly returned to first-team training recently.
Whether he is ready to pull the Saints shirt back on yet is another matter, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him unable to make a comeback against the Baggies.

Mads Roerslev added to the injury chaos at right-back back in October after dealing with a case of Achilles bursitis.
It worsened after he went on international duty with Denmark, with no timescale put on when he may return.
Therefore, he is likely to miss out on Tuesday.

The final Southampton absentee could be forward Damion Downs, who missed the Saints’ win over Birmingham City with a knock.
Tonda Eckert hasn’t outlined any players returning to the squad ahead of their meeting with West Brom, so the Saints may be readying the German forward for a return next weekend at Norwich City.

Meanwhile, for the visitors, Manchester United loanee Toby Collyer has been plagued by injury issues while at West Brom.
Collyer missed four games between October and November after suffering a hamstring pull against Preston North End, while he suffered a calf injury in a West Midlands derby against Birmingham City.
Boss Ryan Mason has confirmed that the midfielder is ruled out for the remainder of 2025, while he has returned to Old Trafford for treatment on what has been described as a “serious” problem.

Another West Brom injury concern is club captain Jed Wallace, who hasn’t featured since the middle of October due to a calf injury.
It means the former Millwall man will miss his 11th straight game this weekend, with Mason showing no signs that the winger is any closer to returning.
It does leave Albion light in the wide areas, with Mikey Johnston and Karlan Grant the preferred options on the right and left flanks respectively.
