Jerome Abbey was named in Wolves’ matchday squad earlier this year, amid injuries and availability issues, for a game against Bournemouth. The call-up shone a light on his footballing family.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 16-year-old England under-17 international was pulled out of school to train with the first team before the match at Molineux, then remained an unused substitute. He was praised by Rob Edwards after the game.
Abbey follows brothers Jez and Jed, who also came through Wolves’ academy before moving on.
Jez, 22 and Dutch born, is an attacking midfielder who left Wolves in 2020 while still in his mid-teens. He joined AFC Telford United in National League North, featuring for the first team between loans at Barwell, Rushall Olympic and Shifnal Town.
In 2023 he switched to Redditch, and recent years have brought spells with Hednesford, Shifnal, Brackley Town and Stourbridge. He is currently at Alvechurch.
Jed, 24 and also Dutch born, plays in midfield. He stayed with Wolves up to under-18 level before making the same move to AFC Telford United, then continued his career across non-league.
He went to Alvechurch, then South Shields and Alfreton Town, and was most recently with Marine.
