Rosa Kafaji has joined Brighton on loan for the season

Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidosic says that substitute Rosa Kafaji changed the game against Liverpool – making an impact and ultimately scoring a last-gasp equaliser.

Kafaji’s goal denied Liverpool their first win of the season – leaving their manager Gareth Taylor “frustrated”.

It also secured the Seagulls their first point on the road so far in this campaign.

“Rosa’s got herself on and made a terrific impact,” Vidosic said afterwards. “She’s changed the game, and that’s great for her.

“We’ve talked to her during the week. She’s reflected upon what was said and she’s come on and had a positive effect. It’s part of a young player’s development.

“There are going to be moments when you’re at your highest, where everyone is talking about you, and there will be moments when nothing is working.

“But we try to talk to the girls, so that they stay somewhere in the middle. They’re all learning. So they need these experiences to learn and sometimes the tougher ones are where you learn the most, but she made a great impact today.”

Dario Vidosic: Brighton deserved a point

The Australian felt his team had been unfortunate not to equalise before second-half added time, but always believed that they would get the goal they needed.

“We’ve played a team desperate to put some points on the board, and early on, we were unlucky – we hit the angle of the post and crossbar with a header.

“What was important for me after Liverpool scored was that the belief never really went away. We’ve had two big chances before they scored. After it, we had that chance with Fran (Kirby). It was fantastic defending from them.

“That can take the spirit out of you, but I think we were rewarded in the end for something we deserved.”

Brighton are next in action on Wednesday, 12th November, when they host Charlton Athletic in the Subway Women’s League Cup.

Their next match in the WSL is next Sunday, 16th November, when they host Leicester City.
