The Coppa Italia returns to San Siro. Forty-nine days after the first leg at the Sinigaglia ended in a 0–0 draw, Inter and Como meet again for the second leg of the semi-final of Italy’s domestic cup. The clash at the Meazza will book one of the finalists their spot at the Stadio Olimpico, with the final scheduled for Wednesday 13 May. The winner of Inter vs Como will face either Atalanta or Lazio, who meet in the second semi-final on Wednesday 22 April.

Kick-off is set for Tuesday 21 April at 21:00 CEST. Unlike the previous rounds, if the score is level after 90 minutes, the match will go to extra time, before a potential penalty shootout.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Inter and Como have faced each other ten times in the Coppa Italia, resulting in six wins for Inter and four draws. The first meeting between the two sides in the competition dates back to 1968, while their most recent encounter (prior to this season) came in the 1991 Round of 16. That first leg at San Siro ended 2–2, with two own goals from Maiuri and Fadoni. Inter then secured qualification in the return leg in Como, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Berti and Klinsmann.

Inter have also enjoyed a strong record away to Como in the competition, winning five of their eight Coppa Italia matches played on Como soil (with three draws). For Como, this marks only the second Coppa Italia semi-final in the club’s history, following their previous appearance in the 1985/86 season against Sampdoria.

THE FACTS: INTER'S SEMIFINALS

Inter have reached more Coppa Italia semifinals than any other team in the last 30 seasons, with this being their 19th. Overall, only Juventus (35) have advanced beyond the quarterfinals more times than the Nerazzurri (31) in the competition's history.

NERAZZURRI STATS

Inter have a perfectly balanced record in Coppa Italia semi-finals when the first leg ended in a draw: on four occasions they progressed, while four times they were eliminated.

Inter also come into the match in excellent scoring form. The Nerazzurri have won their last three matches, scoring at least three goals in each, for a total of 12 goals — an average of four per game. Among those fixtures was the recent league encounter against Como on 12 April, which ended Como 3–4 Inter at the Sinigaglia.

From a statistical perspective, Inter and Como share similarities across several categories. The two sides are the two highest-scoring teams in first halves in this season’s Coppa Italia: Como have scored eight goals, while Inter have netted four before the break. The teams also rank as the two sides with the highest shot-conversion rates in Serie A this season, with Chivu's side recording 13.4% and Fàbregas's recording 12.0%.

CALHANOGLU AND ZIELINSKI FROM RANGE

The clash between Inter and Como will feature two of the three Serie A players with the most goals this season across all competitions: leading the ranking is Nico Paz with 13 goals, followed by Scott McTominay on 12, while Hakan Çalhanoglu sits third with 10 goals.

Looking more specifically at long-range strikes, Nico Paz, Hakan Çalhanoglu and Piotr Zielinski share the top spot among Serie A players this season, each having scored five goals from outside the penalty area in all competitions.

LEADING FIGURES IN THE COPPA ITALIA

Inter are the team with the most players (three) who have scored at least two goals in this season's Coppa Italia: Andy Diouf, Ange-Yoan Bonny and Marcus Thuram. The last time the Nerazzurri had four players with two or more goals in a single Coppa Italia campaign was in the 2007/08 season, when Hernán Crespo, Mario Balotelli, Julio Cruz and Pelé all reached that mark.

GOAL MACHINES

Three of the four Serie A players who have been involved in at least 20 goals in all competitions this season play for Inter: Lautaro Martínez (24 – 20G + 4A), Marcus Thuram (23 – 16G + 7A), and Federico Dimarco (22 – 7G + 15A). The other is Kenan Yildiz (20 – 11G + 9A).

THE OPPOSITION: COMO

Como come into the semi-final on the back of two consecutive league defeats and have not tasted victory since 22 March. The Lariani lost 3–1 to Sassuolo in their most recent Serie A fixture, a result that followed the 4-3 defeat to Inter at the Sinigaglia, when the Nerazzurri came from behind to win. Looking further back at their form, those two league losses came after a 0–0 home draw with Udinese, meaning Fàbregas' side have not won since their 5–0 home victory over Pisa.

In the Coppa Italia, Como entered the competition at the Round of 32 in August, beating Südtirol 3–1 after a brace from Douvikas and a goal by Da Cunha. In the Round of 16, they recorded an emphatic 3–0 win over Sassuolo thanks to a brace from Rodriguez and another strike from Douvikas. Next, the Lombardy side eliminated Fiorentina 3–1 away, with goals from Sergi Roberto, Nico Paz and Morata. Most recently, Como then knocked out Napoli 8–7 on penalties, after a 1–1 draw in regulation time with a goal from Baturina.

A team that enjoys possession and attacking football, Fàbregas typically lines his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, built around the technical quality and creativity of his players. The club’s top scorer this season is Greek striker Anastasios Douvikas with 14 goals in all competitions, followed closely by Argentine playmaker Nico Paz with 13.
