Raúl 'Pina' Arellano won five league titles with the Rebaño Sagrado during his time at the club, from 1953 to 1964, a period in which he was also part of the legendary Campeonísimo squad.

'La Pina' was an essential part of the Rojiblanca's greatness from the beginning, as he was part of the team that won Chivas' first championship in the 1956-1957 season, after defeating Irapuato at the Felipe Martínez Sandoval Stadium (Parque Oblatos).

That title buried any doubts and left behind the era of "Ya merito", ushering in the golden age of Club Deportivo Guadalajara. From then on, Arellano established himself as a member of one of the most successful teams in the history of Mexican soccer.

Chivas' First CONCACAF Title

Raúl Arellano was also part of the squad that won Chivas' first CONCACAF title in 1962, the inaugural edition of the tournament. With that achievement, Guadalajara was engraved in gold letters in the history of the tournament, becoming the first club to be crowned in this competition.

In the final, Guadalajara decisively defeated Comunicaciones of Guatemala, winning 6-0 at the Jalisco Stadium.

The Arellano Dynasty

Raúl Arellano's love for the Rojiblanco Club transcended generations. His son, Omar Arellano Nuño, followed in his footsteps and was part of the team that won the ninth star for Chivas in the final against Cruz Azul. He later worked at the club as an assistant coach and coach for the first team and youth teams.

His grandson, Omar Arellano Riverón, continued the family legacy as a striker for the Rebaño. He won the affection of the Rojiblanca fans with great performances, especially for his goals in the Clásicos de México. Thus, Raúl 'La Pina' Arellano passed on to his family not only his passion for soccer, but also his love for the Rojiblanco colors.

World Cup Player

Arellano also left his mark with the Mexican national team, participating in the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, as well as playing in the second Pan American Championship and multiple friendly matches with the national team.
