Everton enjoyed their first outing in the Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend, beating Brighton 2-0 in a dream start.
The club’s new waterside home is certainly impressive, as was the noise generated at the state-of-the-art facility.
The venue has a booming sound system, with announcement siren and traditional Z-Cars creating an electric atmosphere. Bolstered by the additional fans and a stadium designed to reverberate noise, Everton set a new Premier League record this weekend.
Any reservations from fans that the new ground may not feel like home were quickly removed. This is a new era for Everton and one that should be relished.
The noise was measured at 126 decibels during Sunday’s game, the most on record at a Premier League game. So loud, in fact, that it’s the fifth-loudest crowd noise record in a football stadium, ever.
Turkey’s famous atmospheres take the top three spots, with Istanbul giants Besitkas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce completing a Süper Lig podium. Everton’s 126 decibel peak makes it into fifth place, just behind Celtic’s Celtic Park.
1. Beşiktaş’s Vodafone Park – 132 dB (2007) 2. Galatasaray’s Turk Telekom Arena – 131.76 dB (2011) 3. Fenerbahçe’s Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium – 131 dB 4. Celtic’s Celtic Park – 129 dB (2024) 5. Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium – 126 dB (2025)
