With the new away shirt from adidas for the 2026/27 season, Eintracht Frankfurt is bringing an iconic piece of club history back onto the pitch and evoking strong feelings and special memories.
The eagle of the 80s and 90s is back – having never really gone away. With the new away shirt from adidas for the 2026/27 season, Eintracht Frankfurt is bringing an iconic piece of club history back onto the pitch and evoking strong feelings and special memories.
The focal point is the historic badge, which brings a unique time back to life – for everyone who experienced the decades of the 80s and 90s for themselves, but also for all Eintracht fans who feel connected to this era through retro style and stories. At the same time, the new jersey ties in with special events of the past: Eintracht teams have produced many of their greatest performances in white – in Europe, in finals, in front of crowds of white.
The new away shirt is presented in classic white, combining traditional identity with a clear, modern look. The basic colour is complemented by a tonal, vertical striped pattern created using two different weaving techniques. Subtle contrasts and clear lines create an elegant appearance, while black details add deliberate accents. The result is a jersey that is understated in its design but decidedly powerful in its effect: the kit combines nostalgic retro charm with the requirements of modern top-class football.
The 80s eagle in focus
The legendary Eintracht crest that was first introduced in 1977 and adorned the Eagles' jerseys throughout the 1980s and 1990s is displayed on the left chest. Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated some of the greatest successes in the club's history with this logo: the UEFA Cup win in 1980 and the DFB Cup victories in 1981 and 1988 are inextricably linked to this eagle. In the new away jersey, the 80s eagle fits perfectly into the overall black-and-white design. As a distinctive element, the Eintracht lettering is kept in black, building a bridge between tradition and the present – while also making a clear statement about the club's history and identity.
On the right chest, the black adidas Trefoil logo is reminiscent of earlier decades and completes the retro look. As a symbol of originality, it represents the brand's deep connection to football – from the great moments on the field to a movement whose influence extends far beyond the stadium to this day. The jersey pays homage to the football culture of past decades and brings its style into the present. A layered V-neck with black trim accentuates the shirt's elegant yet sporty silhouette. The three black stripes on the shoulders, kept narrow in the traditional retro style, lend the jersey its unmistakable character and round off the cohesive design.
In white for great nights
White jerseys and Eintracht Frankfurt – it's much more than just a colour choice. Eintracht have experienced many of their greatest moments in white. Starting with the German championship in 1959, through the five DFB Cup wins between 1974 and 2018, and most recently the UEFA Europa League triumph in Seville in 2022 – all the biggest titles were won in white. These final successes have defined the image of Eintracht in white and become a firm part of the club's DNA. The white kit represents goosebumps, boundless belief and a team that rises above all opposition.
When Eintracht play in white, an away game turns into a little bit of Frankfurt – supported by thousands who wear the colours of the club around the world. The new away shirt deliberately draws on this tradition: the classic white evokes timeless memories and combines the club's identity with a clean, modern look. Every fibre of the jersey serves as a reminder that Eintracht can summon a special strength far from home when it matters most.
Thoughts on the new shirt
Eintracht legend Jay-Jay Okocha said: "It's a great honour for me to be able to present the away shirt for Eintracht – a beautiful and special one! I never actually played all in white for Eintracht, but for me the colour is closely associated with the successes in the 70s and 80s, which were still very present when I arrived in Frankfurt. I did get to wear the particular eagle from that period, though. I owe a huge amount to the club. In Frankfurt, I learned everything I needed to become a professional player. We played the best and most attractive football in Germany at that time – 'Fußball 2000'. We had a great team and a strong spirit, which I hope for the team this season too – with an incredibly nice away shirt!"
Robin Koch, who also presented the away jersey, added: “When we walk out in white, you immediately sense the power in the stands. You think of special matches, of tifos, of moments in which the team and the fans together surpass themselves. This shirt carries all those stories in it – the titles won by past teams with the old eagle as well as the recent successes. For us players, it's an honour to wear this badge. It reminds us of what came before us, and what we can and want to carry on. We want to create memories for eternity in this shirt.”
Printing and partners integrated into retro look
On the chest, long-standing main sponsor Indeed is represented, whose branding blends harmoniously into the black-and-white design of the jersey. The logo of Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG (DVAG) is positioned on the left sleeve. Both brand logos are in black, in keeping with the reduced, clear look of the new away kit.
Latest technology for maximum comfort
Among all the nostalgia, the away shirt meets the highest standards of modern performance material. Thanks to its quick-drying fibres, the integrated Climacool technology ensures efficient moisture management, wicks sweat away from the skin, and helps keep you cool and dry – even during intense activity on the pitch or in the stands.
