Inter Miami is two days away from their encounter against the New England Revolution. On Saturday, the Herons are obligated to achieve victory if they want to continue climbing in the Eastern Conference.
The game against New England is crucial, as it helps Inter Miami play the most games at Chase Stadium during the playoffs. The math is simple. The higher you end in the regular season, the more times you play in your stadium.
Following the disappointing loss to the Chicago Fire, Javier Mascherano must turn things around by reverting to the previous lineup that led the squad to important victories.
However, the last two games could be used as proof to show that one player can’t be replaced from the starting lineup. I don’t care how many games he has to play in a short period.
It is clear that when Ian Fray is on the field, the team plays a certain way, and when Marcelo Weigandt is on the field, they play a different way. However, Inter Miami needs to start winning to play the most games at Chase Stadium.
To achieve that objective, in the ideal lineup, Fray should be the starter. Not that I have anything against the Argentinian, but it's just that the Herons need what the Jamaican can give the squad in offense.
Chelo is alright if Las Garzas need to maintain and resist a score, but that’s not the case. They need to search for victory and be as vertical and dangerous as possible.
The 23-year-old footballer provides Inter Miami with a quick outlet in possession. Thanks to his speed and agility, Fray can shake off defenders or play a long ball to chase in a footrace, a scenario in which he usually comes out on top.
This puts him in a position either to deliver a pass on the edge of the box or to send in a dangerous cross.
Javier Mascherano should realize by now that the defensive flaws behind the fullbacks can be resolved by putting a line of five. Nevertheless, if you are going to bet on a usual 4-4-2, Fray is your man on the right-back position.
The Jamaican should not even be considered to be outside of the starting eleven. Inter Miami plays better with him on the field, and the offense is superior when Fray takes the ball like a spear, aiming to do as much damage as possible to the opposition.
