Harry Kane has taken one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s records after becoming the quickest player to score 100 goals for one club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
The Bayern Munich striker reached a century of goals for the club when he found the net twice during their 4-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday evening.
Kane managed to do so in just 104 appearances, meaning he is scoring at a rate of nearly a goal per game since leaving Tottenham Hotspur two years ago.
Ronaldo scored 100 goals in his first 105 games for Real Madrid following his move from Manchester United, while Erling Haaland did the same after he joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.
Only the very elite forwards have ever come remotely close to matching that level of goalscoring, with Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic reaching the milestone in 120 and 124 appearances for Barcelona and PSG respectively.
“It’s an honor to score 100 goals for this great club,” Kane said of the record after the win over Bremen. “To achieve that so quickly, I’m very proud of that. Hopefully I can reach another 100 as soon as possible. It’s crazy [to break such a record], even for me.”
It comes just a week after Kane broke another record, becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to successfully convert all of his first 17 (now 18) penalties.
