Mohamed Salah has been a divisive figure at Anfield this season, and the forward’s future has never been less certain.

The Egyptian King has failed to reach the level he did last season, but that shouldn't come as a massive surprise.

Salah’s 57 goal involvements last year came in one of the best individual season’s a player has ever had, and there was always going to be a drop off afterwards.

Now the 33-year-old is being heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside and for many it feels as though Salah’s fate is set, but nothing is guaranteed yet.

Salah’s Anfield exit not a certainty

A sure sign that a player is on their way out is often the club being heavily linked with possible replacements, but that may not be the case in Salah’s situation.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande is not dependant on the sale of Salah.

Diomande is one of the most promising young forwards in Europe, but the report claims that the Reds are pursuing the 19-year-old regardless of Salah’s departure.

This leaves the door open for the veteran winger to remain at Anfield and nurture a new addition.

The report does note that Salah’s departure still seems likely, but Diomande coming in does not mean that an exit for the Reds’ talisman is definite.

Is Salah’s time at Anfield almost over?

Interest from the Saudi Pro League has lingered for several years now, and the Egyptian King’s apparent decline this season doesn’t seem to have put off potential suitors.

After a public falling out with Arne Slot earlier in the season, an exit looked like the only possible outcome, with Salah even dropped from the team for a number of weeks.

Salah is firmly back in Liverpool’s XI now though, and problems with the head coach seem to be a thing of the past.

Reinforcing the right-side of the attack will likely remain a priority, even if Salah stays, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the winger will lose his place in the XI.
