Matchday 28 featured plenty of talking points, as usual, but some ridiculous goals from some bright young talents offered more than enough entertainment.

Here are the best hits from the weekend.

5. Jaziel Orozco vs Nashville

There is the golden rule that goalkeepers, regardless of sport, should never be beaten at their near post. But there are cases where sheer power can trump the traditional narrative.

Jaziel Orozco's hit against Nashville is a prime example that sometimes, an effort at goal is unstoppable.

The 21-year-old displayed the full range of his player profile in front of home support when he was the first to pounce on a loose ball in the box, controlling well before darting through the defense before unleashing a low piledriver past a helpless Joe Willis to open the scoring in the 23rd minute from a ludicrous angle to set St. Louis on course for a 3-1 home win against tough opposition.

4. Darren Yapi vs Minnesota

A running theme to begin the week has been focusing on the young talent that continues to break into the senior ranks across MLS, and Colorado's Darren Yapi is certainly among them.

Still just 20, Yapi has gone from strength to strength this season for the Rapis, and his two-goal performance against Minnesota at the weekend was proof that he is quickly becoming a valuable asset at DSG Park.

The owner of the match-winning effort in the 2-1 win over the Loons, it was his first strike that seemed to come right out of the Thierry Henry school of goalscoring wizardry, with Yapi racing into space down the left channel before cutting between two markers and quickly bending a low effort into the far corner. More of this, and a 2026 World Cup roster spot for the United States may not be unrealistic.

3. Yannick Bright vs Orlando

Inter Miami continue to bemuse fans, neutrals, and pundits alike. Despite all the star power under Javier Mascherano's command, the Herons remain well short. of expectations across 2025, and a poor result against in-state rival Orlando brought their frailties into full view.

But despite the poor reading material on the scoreboard, a moment to savour from Yannick Bright gave supporters something to please the palate.

The 23-year-old Milan native bagged his first goal in Inter Miami colors with aplomb, smashing in a volley from just outside the box with vengeance behind it while leaving Pedro Gallese to parry it away. A top effort from a budding talent.

2. Wilfried Zaha vs Cincinnati

Charlotte are the hottest team in MLS, and a narrow 1-0 win against the growing Eastern Conference power that is Cincinnati planted a flag in the sand across a season where the Crown could play the darkhorse role in the MLS Cup (should they qualify).

Level at nil-nil and with a man advantage with five minutes remaining, star man Wilfried Zaha popped up with a moment of individual brilliance to produce a match-winner on the volley to put a postage stamp on all three points.

Zaha talks the talk, but moments like this prove he backs it up while walking the walk.

1. Snyder Brunell vs LA Galaxy

It may not have been the prettiest or most spectacular hit of the weekend, but surely there was no moment more special than Snyder Brunell's effort against the LA Galaxy that saw Seattle run rampant away from home.

The 18-year-old homegrown midfielder came on to make his debut against the legacy club in the 73rd minute, but he could not have expected adding a first MLS goal to his CV to a night he already was sure to never forget.

Finding himself on the end of a squared ball across goal from Alex Roldán, the young midfielder turned home his effort first-time past Novak Mićović to bookend a huge result and a massive personal milestone.
