Barcelona director Deco has played down the club’s interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford (via Sky Sports).
United want the England international to leave on loan this month, and Barcelona are among the clubs linked with him.
The Blaugrana have a star-studded attack that includes wide forwards Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, two of the most in-form players in European football.
Barcelona have been credited with an interest in Rashford despite the abundance of attacking talents in their squad.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano previously revealed they were one of the ‘most interested’ clubs in Rashford.
Rashford also prefers a move to Barcelona. His representatives reportedly met with Barcelona in Lisbon yesterday before their Champions League clash with Benfica.
However, Deco has played down the Catalonia club’s interest in the 27-year-old, stating they were focused on contract renewals.
Financial Fair Play concerns (FFP) are also an issue. They struggled to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season before securing temporary registration for both.
They want to offload some players in the winter transfer window. Fati and Eric Garcia have been linked with an exit from the club.
Garcia was on the scoresheet in their 5-4 win over Benfica yesterday. Fati has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but there have been no concrete discussions about a move.
Barcelona may eventually sign Rashford on loan this month if they do not violate FFP rules with his arrival.
United would need to be ready to pay a substantial part of his salary to let him leave.
