“They have built momentum based on these cheating decisions,” Jambo view

Read this, its a comment from a supporter about last night’s big talking point in the game at Ibrox between theRangers and Kilmarnock which was refereed by David Dickinson…

“Once again, we have yet another Rangers game with pivotal decisions only going one way with the game on a knife edge, and YET AGAIN David Dickinson is at the heart of it.

“The incidents below are virtually identical, and both are stone wall examples of “Denial of a goalscoring opportunity”. To paraphrase Willie Collum, what is the striker’s next step but for the contact? To create a goalscoring opportunity. If Tavernier doesn’t take him down, he’s through in on goal and it potentially goes 1-1.

“Dickinson of course is responsible for awarding a laughable penalty in the dying embers of the Dundee Utd v Rangers game to rescue Rangers a point, Denying Motherwell a stone wall penalty at Ibrox, to quote him “Never in a million years” despite it being textbook…and then following that up with a near identical award FOR Rangers at Pittodrie.

“This man should not be allowed anywhere near Rangers games. He is not impartial.”

That could have been written by you, me or any other Celtic supporter but in fact it wasn’t. It’s actually a view expressed by a Hearts supporter on Jambos Kickback forum. Had Hearts NOT been involved in the title race it’s likely that these comments wouldn’t have been made and the frustration at these type of decisions going the way of theRangers would have been mildly amusing. After all it only really affects Celtic, right?

But after Hearts dropped points at St Mirren on Tuesday they would have been hoping that title chasers Celtic and theRangers would also slip up. Celtic’s game was called off due to the state of the Pittodrie pitch but the game at Ibrox went ahead and theRangers won that one by 5-1, but yet again a decision was made that has Hearts – as well as Celtic supporters – calling out the match officials.

Commenting on the post quoted above another Hearts fan noted: “Delighted this is being highlighted. This will definitely be our biggest challenge moving forward. They (theRangers) have built momentum based on these cheating decisions.”

Another Hearts supporter stated: “I brought this up in the Other Scottish Football thread last night too, absolute cheat that Tavernier gets away with that on a yellow card already, pretty much immediately subbed straight after that incident. I haven’t seen it back yet but there was a lunge from Diomande after he miscontrolled the ball which looked a red at the time too, play on from the ref. One rule specifically for theRangers and the rest of us play to different rules.”

Another Jambo wrote this: “I’ll be honest, I’ve lost the heid with it. Rangers are being delivered points on a silver platter by weak and biased refereeing. We need to implement the PGMOL appointments policy to prevent fans of clubs refereeing games. I can remember back to School football having the other teams coach refereeing and cheating like crazy. It is entirely comparable… and it’s absolutely pathetic.”

Another Hearts fan added this: “I can almost say with certainty why it happened – Tavernier is a 34 year old full back who has lost a yard of pace. Maybe two years ago he gets there with ease, but he didn’t and that should have been punished. Pathetic refereeing, yet again.

“In any other game, that is a repeat of the Trusty incident and a straight red for DOGSO.

“David Dickinson has made far too many “honest mistakes” in games involving (the)Rangers. It needs called out, because Rangers going down to 10 at only 1-0 makes it 10 v 10 and and has a material impact on the potential outcome of the game (maybe they still win, but we’ll never know because Dickinson is biased).

“I’ll remind everyone that he was screaming down the VAR comms against Motherwell “NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS” – He clearly views Rangers through a supporters lens, and cannot be trusted in this fixture.

“The frustrating point is although I’m calling him a biased cheat, because that’s what he is, in games not involving Rangers he is fine. Which underscores exactly why the PGMOL policy on appointments must be implemented.”

It keeps going, this from another Hearts supporter: “Thing is, we can clearly see Tavernier’s arm across the Killie boys chest. It is inexcusable. When you’re last man – even if “last man” isn’t the rule anymore, you open the door to DOGSO when you foul, so it seems pretty cut and dry that he took a risk and should have walked for it. IMO Collum will need to twist himself in knots to justify it, and he’ll look like a complete tool if he attempts to defend the referee.”

And another: “This league needs foreign refs to function correctly, but it’ll never happen. Or more severe punishments for clear errors, and repeated errors should result in you being taken off of games that you’re repeatedly making decisions that favour, though that seems like common sense so unsure why it’s been implemented yet. The full league knows David Dickinson favours rangers, with clear evidence backing it up, so why is he still allowed to ref their games?”

Another Hearts fan post this video while acknowledging that it’s from a Celtic account…

When Celtic’s recent appeal against the Auston Trusty red card at Tynecastle was rejected by the Scottish FA’s Appeals Panel, the club were charged £650 and later said that they would continue discussions with the Scottish FA about the decision.

They now have a reference point involving theRangers – and this time the player was already on a yellow card and the ball was heading straight for goal – yet no second, yellow, no straight red and no ‘John Beaton’ style VAR intervention.

As title contenders Hearts are now seeing things in a different way. It’s not just Celtic Paranoia and over the years Celtic supporters have come to realise that we’ve not been paranoid enough.
