Erling Haaland has publicly backed Manchester City despite the club facing more than 100 charges of alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

The charges span from the 2009/10 to the 2017/18 seasons and could lead to serious consequences, including fines, points deductions, or even expulsion from the league. City strongly deny the accusations and await a verdict from an independent commission.

And speaking in an exclusive interview with TIME magazine, Haaland has come out in the support of the club.

“I spoke with the bosses, and in the end, I believe them,” Haaland said.

“It’s such a tricky situation for me to even sit there and speak about, because I wasn’t really involved in it. So I think the club knows what they’re doing. They will sort it out.”

Last season, the Norwegian striker sparked a feud with Arsenal when he told Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta to "stay humble" at the end of a 2-2 draw between the two clubs in September.

Arsenal then threw Haaland's words back in his face when they ran out 5-1 winners when the sides met again at the Emirates later in the season.

But while Haaland stands by his statement, he admits Arsenal had the last laugh.

“I think it’s an important phrase, which a lot of people should use, including myself. It’s one of the most important things, as individuals, to do — stay humble,'" he said.

Reflecting on that 5-1 defeat, he added with a smile: “They won the game 5-1. So yeah, they got me.”
