Fiorentina are seeking a new head coach for 2026-27, with Fabrizio Grosso the favourite and Maurizio Sarri also in the frame. Thiago Motta has now emerged as a candidate, after Sarri and Grosso were earlier floated by director Fabio Paratici.

According to Calciomercato, Motta has been added to the shortlist after taking this season off following his March 2025 dismissal by Juventus.

Paolo Vanoli lifted the team from the foot of Serie A and they are now eight points clear of the bottom three. Few expect him to be offered the role beyond the season.

Grosso is currently in charge of Sassuolo and remains the leading option. Sarri is another strong contender amid issues with the Lazio directors. For him it would be a homecoming, as he grew up near the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Motta previously coached Genoa and Spezia, and notably Bologna, whom he led to Champions League qualification.
