Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois faces around six weeks out with a right quadriceps injury, ruling him out of the Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich on seven April and 15 April. The club said in a statement that he has a muscular injury to the anterior bundle of his right quadriceps.
Courtois, 33, had felt discomfort in the warm-up and was withdrawn at half-time of Tuesday's last-16 second leg against Manchester City, which finished 2-1. The diagnosis was confirmed on Thursday.
His absence also rules him out of this weekend's league derby against Atletico.
The blow comes with Courtois in fine form, having repeatedly kept Madrid afloat this season with decisive saves.
Belgium are affected too, with the Red Devils set to meet the United States and Mexico in friendlies during the next international break.
