It's time to get excited! Here is the Southampton lineup with Albert Gronbaek, as the Rennes forward is on the precipice of his St Marys Stadium transfer.
For a long time, there were question marks about whether or not Southampton would be active in the January transfer window. The Saints left their planning until late and with the profit and sustainability guidelines which hinder many Premier League sides, there is always doubt.
Nevertheless, Southampton have been active recently. And now, that activity is beginning to come together full circle.
We reported earlier today that Southampton had reached an agreement to sign Albert Gronbaek from Rennes. So, let's take a look at how he fits into the lineup...
GK - Aaron Ramsdale. Even if he gets a move away in the summer, let's just hope that we keep ahold of Aaron Ramsdale until the end of the season.
RWB - Yukinari Sugawara. Made quite the name for himself in this position recently. Doesn't seem like anyone can kick him out of the lineup.
CB - James Bree. It's a toss-up between Bree and Wood at the back for Southampton. Anyone but Stephens, in my opinion.
CB - Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Like Ramsdale, THB is one of those players who will probably leave in the summer. Nevertheless, let's enjoy our last few months with him at the back.
CB - Jan Bednarek. A goal-scorer at the weekend, Jan Bednarek will certainly welcome Albert Gronbaek into the Southampton setup. He has seen many players come and go, after all.
LWB - Kyle Walker-Peters. It remains to be seen what happens with his contract situation. Either way, it's unlikely Southampton will allow him to leave in January at this stage.
CM - Mateus Fernandes. One of the standout players for Southampton this season. For some reason, he is flying under the radar so hopefully he continues to avoid transfer interest.
CM - Lesley Ugochukwu. Chelsea probably won't recall Ugochukwu at this stage. If they wanted to, they would and from Southampton's perspective, he deserves a serious run-out after his great performance from the bench at the weekend.
CM - Albert Gronbaek. He can also play on the wing, but when do Southampton ever use wingers? This is where he'll slot in and he'll hope to have an impact, bridging that gap between midfield and attack.
ST - Adam Armstrong. Seriously needs to add some numbers to his game but with Southampton likely to be relegated, he is proven in the Championship already.
