Bryan Mbeumo is looking like Manchester United’s most probable attacking addition following the completion of the Matheus Cunha deal.

The Red Devils are expected to strengthen their frontline this summer as they aim to provide head coach Ruben Amorim with a dependable attacking setup.

Alongside securing a striker, two number 10s are also on the club’s transfer agenda.

Efforts to finalize a deal for a striker are ongoing, while Matheus Cunha, one of the two playmakers, is expected to complete his move this week.

Now, United have turned their attention to Mbeumo, with the Premier League star tipped to partner Cunha in the attacking midfield role.

United’s talks with Mbeumo

The Peoples Person has relayed claims by Ben Jacobs that United have held discussions with the Cameroonian forward regarding a switch to Old Trafford.

It was suggested that the West London side are demanding £50 million for their man, and United were considering funding the deal through the sale of Alejandro Garnacho.

A move for the Brentford forward makes perfect sense, given his impressive stats from last season.

Mbeumo is coming off a stellar Premier League campaign in which he netted 20 goals and provided seven assists.

Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland outscored him, which speaks volumes about his quality, especially considering he does not play for one of the league’s traditional heavyweights.

With numbers like those, it is no surprise he is drawing interest from several top clubs.

Brentford won’t stand in his way

The Bees’ boss Thomas Frank, while praising Mbeumo for his outstanding season, has hinted that the forward could be on the move this summer and that the club will not block his exit.

Frank admitted that Brentford are aware of the interest in their player and, given his performances, have seen plenty of speculation.

He acknowledged that The Bees, ultimately, are a selling club and would be willing to part ways with Mbeumo if their valuation is met.

“Very happy for him. Because we know it’s a mark that is very difficult to reach in any league and particularly in this league,” Frank told the Hounslow Herald.

“We are a selling club, so if someone comes in with the right price, then we would sell. I definitely understand the interest in him.

“There should be interest. At least there are rumours. I don’t know who makes these rumours up, so maybe there’s something.”

His comments suggest that, in the end, Mbeumo’s future will likely be determined by which club is prepared to meet Brentford’s asking price.

Other suitors in the race

Alongside United, Newcastle United are also believed to hold serious interest in the 25-year-old forward.

With the INEOS already in talks with him, the hope will be that they have successfully convinced him to join Amorim’s project at Old Trafford.

His goal-scoring ability could prove crucial in firing United back up the table and restoring their status among England’s elite.

A front three consisting of Cunha and Mbeumo as attacking midfielders, with a proper number nine like Liam Delap leading the line, could signal the return of glory days to Old Trafford.
