Thomas Meunier adds vast European experience to Sunderland squad | OneFootball

Former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier has joined Sunderland on a two-year deal, becoming the club’s first signing of the summer window.

Sunderland will return to Europe for only the second time, and the first since 1973, entering the Europa League as novices. According to Sunderland Echo, Regis Le Bris can still call on meaningful Champions League, Europa League and Conference League experience in his squad.

Meunier has 91 European appearances across qualifying, group and knockout stages with his previous clubs, and only one current Black Cats player has more.

Wilson Isidor has three outings, two in the Europa League and one in Champions League qualifying. Trai Hume has five, one in Champions League qualifying and four in Conference League qualifying.

Melker Ellborg has seven, five in the Europa League and two in Champions League qualifying. Enzo Le Fee has nine, all in the Europa League.
