According to The Star, there are three groups all weighing up a potential bid to purchase the Yorkshire outfit amid turmoil surrounding Dejphon Chansiri.

Increased attention has been placed on the Owls’ owner after it emerged in late March that player wages had gone unpaid after cash flow issues, per the BBC.

This has led to fan protests, with the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust urging Chansiri to sell his stake in the club.

It is believed there are three groups interested in a potential takeover at Sheffield Wednesday amid these off-field issues.

Supporters have protested Chansiri’s ownership, with the Supporters’ Trust urging him to do the right thing and move on from the club.

It’s understood that two of the groups are based in the United States, while the third originates from the UK.

However, it remains unclear whether any concrete offers will be made, with Chansiri recently claiming that he has yet to receive any bids in a lengthy statement released in response to the unpaid wages, which have since been received.

“We have all seen speculation and stories that a consortium or individual is ready to come in and take over,” he wrote, via the club’s official website last weekend.

“But I can guarantee there have been no offers at all.

“There has been some interest but nothing at all substantial that has been followed through.”

Danny Rohl speculation

Manager Danny Rohl has earned a lot of praise for his work in charge of the first team squad during this turbulent period behind the scenes.

The German oversaw the club’s miraculous recovery to avoid relegation to League One last season, and now has the team sitting 14th in the Championship table.

However, this has led to speculation over his future, with Leicester City identified as a possible next destination, as well as RB Leipzig.

It has also been reported that Southampton have shortlisted 35-year-old as a potential replacement for the dismissed Ivan Juric.

Fans will welcome ownership development

Chansiri has been the subject of a lot of frustration over the years by Sheffield Wednesday supporters for his mismanagement of the club.

The appointment of Rohl has proven a masterstroke, but there have been far more wrongs than rights during his time at the helm.

Bringing in a new owner this summer would be huge, and could play a huge role in determining Rohl’s future at Hillsborough.

With the right backing, he could potentially be convinced to stay and fight for promotion to the Premier League, which would be a huge boost for Sheffield Wednesday, although it’s a far from guaranteed outcome at this stage.
