Leeds United confirmed their first summer arrival on Wednesday, signing Harry Wilson on a free. The 29-year-old agreed a four-year deal after leaving Fulham following a career-best Premier League season.

He posted 10 goals and seven assists in 36 games, mostly from the right in a 4-2-3-1 behind Raul Jimenez. Versatile across roles, yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk outlines three ways Daniel Farke could use him next season.

First, a straightforward Brenden Aaronson replacement on the right of a 3-4-2-1. Wilson could drift inside as a wing-10 hybrid to combine with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with width from Jayden Bogle and at times Joe Rodon.

That role would demand sharp defensive work. Aaronson excels at leading the press, so Wilson would need to adapt quickly out of possession.

Second, Wilson at the tip of a 3-5-2 midfield behind two strikers. Playing off Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, with Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach deeper, he could profit from knockdowns and drift wide when space appears.

It worked superbly at home to Chelsea, yet other games exposed a lack of width. Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson would have to dominate the flanks and could be doubled up.

Third, a 4-2-3-1 with Wilson as No.10 behind Calvert-Lewin, flanked by Noah Okafor and Daniel James. Farke’s switches to a back four often paid off, for example against Liverpool, Sunderland and Brentford, so this may be an in-game lever for now.
