SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with Tigres UANL securing a 2-nil win against Seattle Sounders FC in the First Leg of their Quarterfinals series on Wednesday at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolas de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.

Both teams started strong defensively and would be deadlocked to a nil-nil draw into the halftime break.

Right before the halftime whistle, Tigres UANL had a chance to take the lead through a penalty kick attempt after Nouhou Tolo committed a foul on Diego Lainez inside the area. Angel Correa struck the ball over the crossbar in the 45'+3’.

Tigres UANL found the breakthrough goal in the second half, when Ozziel Herrera fired the ball into the back of the net in the 51’. Fernando Gorriarán provided the assist with a back heel pass.

Nahuel Guzmán provided a timely save in front of the goal line to deny the potential tying goal from Paul Rothrock in the 63’.

The Mexican side extended its lead off a corner kick chance in the 76’ that resulted in an own goal from Jackson Ragen. Juan Brunetta provided the delivery from the corner flag as Joaquim headed the chance towards the net to cause the second goal.

The two teams will meet for the Second Leg next Wednesday at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington, USA. The winner on aggregate will advance to the next round.
