According to the Guardian, West Ham are interested in taking Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber to the Premier League.
West Ham’s interest in Timber is largely related to the potential transfer of Edson Álvarez. The midfielder, who was briefly linked with Ajax, is likely to leave this summer. Fenerbahçe are reportedly close to a deal, but Francesco Farioli’s Porto and Borussia Dortmund are still trying to secure the Mexican’s services. West Ham wants to sign two more midfielders if Álvarez leaves.
Timber apparently isn’t the first choice. West Ham has reportedly already submitted bids for Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes and FC Barcelona’s Marc Casado. The former’s bid has already been rejected. West Ham also has Ngal’ayel Mukau (Lille) and Romano Schmid (Werder Bremen) on their list.
Following the captain’s armband being given to Sem Steijn at De Kuip, De Telegraaf have reported that the midfielder has been working on a move to the Premier League all summer. Timber has only one year left on his contract in Rotterdam and has reportedly rejected any offers for an extension so far. Regardless, he has been a regular starter in recent Feyenoord matches.
