Tite has criticised Flamengo’s priorities after leaving late in the 2024 season following a Libertadores exit. According to Coluna Do Fla, he said the club cares only about the Libertadores and the Club World Cup.

He described Flamengo as breathing those competitions and suggested everything else counts for little. He added the team lost their front three, Pedro, Cebolinha and Luiz Araújo, who had contributed nearly 60 goals.

Flamengo lost the first match against Peñarol in the Libertadores round of 16, then drew the second. He said the dismissal followed that tie.

During his tenure he took charge of 68 matches and won 41. He also lifted the 2024 Campeonato Carioca.

Leonardo Jardim is now in charge. The Portuguese coach is preparing the side to face Vitória on Thursday 14 in the Copa do Brasil fifth phase. Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time at Barradão.
