Fair play to him but action speaks louder than words. For years we’ve been hearing that theRangers are coming now it’s the turn of Hearts. According to the bold Tony, Hearts will not only split the big two, but win the title within the next decade! Leaving the Gorgie faithful drooling at the mouth over such a bold promise.
The English businessman has invested a big chunk of cash into the Jam Tarts, and expects to see a return in investment in the form of seeing the league trophy decked in Maroon with regular participation in the Champions League thrown in, something that is a very big ask indeed.
Don’t get me wrong I think it’s refreshing that someone has such lofty ambitions for a rival Scottish club, the Scottish Premierhship needs more competitiveness to make it more attractive and appealing, but it’s sadly nothing more than a pipe dream.

Only two different sides outwith Celtic have won the top fight title since Aberdeen in 1985, that being the now defunct Rangers (1872 RIP) and the tribute act now playing out of Ibrox, and I can’t see that changing anytime soon.
To break that barrier would not only take serious money, more than Tony will be willing to put in, but a big injection of belief which is something that sides outwith Celtic seem to lack. Admittedly, theRangers do their best, but despite the many millions they throw at it they always seem to wilt under the pressure.

You seen what happened to Aberdeen last year after such an impressive and positive start. The Dons crashed and burned after being declared as genuine title challengers, it’s just too much to take for players not versed to being in that position. Hearts certainly looked in better shape than Aberdeen and if Tony watched theRangers at Fir Park or even Celtic against St Mirren he would not have been overly impressed with either side’s performance.
Hearts are a big name in the Scottish footballing scene, but have failed to win a top flight title since 1960, with the closest they’ve come to tasting title glory since then was back in 1986 only for Celtic – and Albert Kidd – to spoil the day by clinching the title at Love street on the final day of the season.

Hearts fans were all greetin that day, and unfortunately for them they will never get the chance to make amends. Keep dreaming Jambos.
Listen to this it is absolutely brilliant…
Here are the highlights from last night’s match at Tynecastle where Hearts beat Aberdeen 2-0. Celtic are at Pittodrie this weekend…
