Portuguese giants Benfica have been dubbed as a team to ‘keep an eye on’, as they have made an enquiry for Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij, who Nottingham Forest are keen on.
The Tricky Trees made a bad start to their season and Ange Postecoglou experienced a disastrous short spell at the City Ground.
Sean Dyche’s introduction, though, has seen Nottingham Forest stabilise, as they have won some impressive fixtures.
Forest have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur and are five points above the dreaded relegation zone.
Evangelos Marinakis oversaw another massive transfer window last summer, notably managing to keep Morgan Gibbs-White, and the quality of the squad has started to be felt under Dyche.

Nottingham Forest are sitting eleventh in the Europa League table and the club hierarchy are looking to back Dyche in the January transfer window.
Forest want to sign a centre-back with European experience under his belt and are monitoring the situation of Inter Milan centre-back De Vrij.
He has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal keen on him at the start of his career and then Manchester United failing with an offer for him.
Nottingham Forest are not the only club keen on the 33-year-old defender, as clubs from Italy and Portugal are interested.
According to Italian daily Tuttosport (via Tutto Mercato), Benfica have made recent enquiries about the Dutch defender and they are a side to keep an eye on regarding De Vrij’s situation.

Former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho is looking to bring in a defender to the Portuguese giants and he feels that the Dutchman is a perfect fit for his side.
The 77-time Netherlands-capped defender has featured only seven times so far, starting six games, and he is unhappy with his lack of game time at the Serie A giants.
Fellow Serie A club Bologna are keen on the experienced centre-back, as they have also made enquiries about the 33-year-old.
Now, with about two weeks left in the January transfer window, it remains to be seen if the Premier League club will make an offer for the Dutch defender amid plenty of interest in him.
