Today, June 30, is officially the final day of the 2023/24 campaign and tomorrow will mark the start of the 2024/25 period.

That means the contracts of almost all players playing in Europe, whose deals were supposed to end at the end of the season, are set to expire today.

This rule applies to La Liga as well, meaning today marks the final day of several Real Madrid stars, including Toni Kroos.

Kroos’ message to Real Madrid fans

Toni Kroos has sent a heartfelt message to Real Madrid fans, on account of his final day as a Real Madrid player.

“Today is officially my last day as a Real Madrid player. Feels weird but I’ll always be one of you. Forever grateful,” Kroos wrote on his social media handles.

Needless to say, felicitations poured in for the German international, who is currently in action for his nation in the ongoing Euro 2024.

Kroos’ Real Madrid teammate and compatriot Antonio Rudiger commented, “Legend”. The same message was echoed by scores of Real Madrid fans as they showed their love to the legendary midfielder.

Today is indeed Kroos’ final day at Real Madrid. But it is also his last day as a club footballer, as the midfielder announced his retirement from football after the end of Euro 2024.

That means Kroos, in a best-case scenario, can only play in three more matches as Germany have already reached the quarter-final of Euro 2024.

Kroos, who ended his club career with Real Madrid’s 15th UCL title, will look to end his international career on a high too, helping Germany seal the Euros for the first time since 1996.
