Birmingham City owner Tom Wagner has issued the latest in a long line of passionate social media posts echoing his support for the West Midlands outfit ahead of the upcoming match with Swansea City at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

It has been a mixed start to life back in the Championship for Blues, despite the fact the club have been tipped by many to launch an immediate bid for the play-offs, or even automatic promotion as a result of the strength-in-depth that now runs throughout Chris Davies' squad following a well-documented summer spending spree.

The 40-year-old's side currently find themselves in 11th place after the opening five second-tier encounters, winning and losing twice and picking up a solitary draw on the opening night of the season against Ipswich Town on August 8th.

Unsurprisingly, developments in this part of the Second City continue to gain worldwide traction as a result of Wagner's ownership firm, Knighthead, and the presence of NFL icon and former quarterback, Tom Brady, whose influence on proceedings in B9 were seen at length throughout the recently-aired five-part Amazon Prime docuseries.

With Birmingham's men's team looking to register the club's highest finish since the 2011/12 campaign this term after years of prior stagnation, Wagner and the club have also overseen a major transformation into the Women's squad at St. Andrew's, who share the same aim of looking to return to the top-flight - WSL - after a near miss back in May.

Ever since completing his takeover from Birmingham Sports Holdings Limited (BSHL) in July 2023, Wagner has been one of the most transparent and public-facing owners not just in the EFL, but across English football as a whole, which has seen his popularity levels skyrocket in this part of town.

The 55-year-old rectified a handful of errors which led to the club's first season in League One since 1995 in stunning fashion last term, with the appointment of Chris Davies and a plethora of new signings - including a club-record fee for Jay Stansfield - leading to an all-time EFL high points total of 111.

Such trends continued this summer, with the newly-promoted outfit acquiring the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Demarai Gray, Tommy Doyle, Phil Neumann, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Patrick Roberts among others, as well as being linked with several other high-profile names.

After backing up previous predictions of a strong season by going unbeaten in their first three league games, it has been an underwhelming run of late for Davies and his side, who have suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions without reply against Port Vale, Leicester City and Stoke City.

This has set some premature alarm bells ringing, especially when taking early-season statistics into account. However, ahead of Saturday's clash with the Swans and Blues Women featuring at St. Andrew's against Newcastle United less than 24 hours later, Wagner has continued to showcase his unwavering support for both sides representing the royal blue.

"One club. Two teams," he said via Instagram.

"Wishing them the best as they take the pitch and represent Birmingham City."

Birmingham City will hope to mark 150-year anniversary in style

Wagner has continuously spelled out his vision of returning the club to the elite of English football as quickly as next season, which would mean emulating Ipswich Town's recent feat of back-to-back promotions.

Such developments would help the club mark their 150-year anniversary in some fashion after already making great strides of progress in the last 12 months, as well as looking forward to the future.

Wagner's overall commitment to Blues' senior team, women's team and academy setup was further showcased by the fact that the two sides and further relevant age groups will all have training bases built alongside the upcoming 62,000-seater stadium as part of the Sports Quarter complex in East Birmingham.

For now, the US-based businessman will be hoping Davies' side can make a swift return to form, and that Amy Merricks' outfit can continue their unbeaten start to the WSL 2 season and go one better than last, when they were pipped to promotion by London City Lionesses.
