Italy international Sandro Tonali will play to win his first trophy at Newcastle United as the Magpies have qualified for the Carabao Cup Final, beating Arsenal: ‘We are going to Wembley!’

Tonali started in Newcastle’s 2-0 victory against Arsenal on Wednesday and almost played the full 90 minutes as he was subbed off at minute 87 by Sean Longstaff.

Newcastle had already beaten Arsenal 2-0 in the first-leg game in London and secured a spot in the final with a 4-0 aggregate victory.

Tonali celebrated his team’s achievement with an Instagram post on Thursday afternoon.

The Italian shared pictures of Newcastle fans and the team celebrating, with the triumphant message: ‘We are going to Wembley!’

The former Milan star has been a key player for Newcastle United this term. He has made 22 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He also featured in five Carabao Cup matches, netting two goals.

Tonali made his senior Italy debut in 2019 and has one goal in 21 appearances with the Azzurri.
