St James’ Park could soon welcome Toni Kroos.
The German football legend now connecting with Newcastle United.
Toni Kroos with a stellar career, 114 caps for Germany and a powerhouse for both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Last year saw him announce his playing retirement and the former player has been enjoying his post-playing career.
Amongst his interests these days is a podcast that he does with his brother. Felix Kroos is also a former Bundesliga player, who turned out for the likes of Union Berlin and Werder Bremen.
On their podcast ‘Einfach mal Luppen’, the brothers talked about Newcastle United back in late August.
They loved the Newcastle United performance when 10 man NUFC deserved to beat Liverpool, only for luck and key decisions/moments to go against them.
Toni Kroos picked out Dan Burn for special mention at the time, declaring him; “A real pain…ten seconds before every corner and every throw-in, he pushed everyone at least once.”
So impressed by what he had seen, Toni Kroos joked; ““Newcastle stuck with it. I’m going to sign up as a Newcastle United member today.”
Felix Kroos and Toni Kross have now revealed on their podcast that Newcastle United followed up the podcast mentions.
The club sending them a “nice package” that included a personalised Newcastle United black and white replica shirt.
With the package also including a personal message from Dan Burn thanking the brothers for their “kind words” on the podcast.
Over in Germany, Sport 1 reporting on what Toni Kroos and Felix Kroos have now said, that the brothers intend to travel to St James’ Park for a match.
Felix Kroos declaring; “We can announce that we are now officially members of Newcastle United.”
With Toni Kroos adding; “We are officially Magpies.”
After some of the nonsense spouted by major Bayern Munich figures as sour grapes after Newcastle United outbid them to sign Nick Woltemade, nice to hear a real Bayern Munich and Germany legend so positive about NUFC and up for a laugh.
